From watching the police action the last few days and being an observer of all the unnecessary black deaths in the US by the hands of law enforcement over the years, it was obvious to me that their system is broken.  I can only hope that this mentality doesn’t affect Canada as well but in any case if you have time chance, regardless of where you fit in the political spectrum you’ll want to read this.

If you take only one thing away from this essay, I hope it’s this: do not talk to cops. But if you only take two things away, I hope the second one is that it’s possible to imagine a different world where unarmed black people, indigenous people, poor people, disabled people, and people of color are not routinely gunned down by unaccountable police officers.

There’s a lot of talk about some bad apples, I wish people would use the whole saying “a few bad apples spoils the bunch”.  Defund or even abolish the police?  Perhaps we need to consider that as an option to protect those with no power.
