A nice bike ride

In the morning I took Brandon downtown to ride our bikes, initially I wanted to start riding near the CNE but since there was no parking, we ended up at the Humber Bay Park East.  There are some nice trails, we rode around in the park then along the lake and ended up on Lake Shore Blvd.  The city has blocked off the East bound lanes and it was fun to ride in the middle of the road!

There was a heavy fog this morning which added a dramatic effect to the photos, fun to shoot with.  At one point though I was pretty upset and rode past an abandoned smoldering fire full of trash.  How someone can think it’s ok to leave this scene is beyond me, absolutely disgusting. In Scouting we always teach the kids to be respectful of nature and obviously some of these people should attend the sessions designed for 5-8 year olds.

Brandon likes climbing on rocks so why not, it was fun and there were other people on them anyway.

Later in the afternoon, I decided to finally install the 3″ wood screws for my door an strike plates.  It makes both a lot more secure (though not impossible to break into) and if someone were trying to kick my door in, it’d give me valuable additional seconds to react. Yeah someone could just break the window but that’s a lot more overt and the noise is very distinct.  If someone were trying just to steal crap, a kick to the door could be mistaken as hammering.

Ideally I’d love to replace my front door with a metal door but I don’t think Maggie would go for it. ;(  Still this nice upgrade gives some nice peace of mind till I can upgrade further.

Not sure what I’m going to do tomorrow but it’ll be another relaxing day since I’m lazy. 😉
