Last night Eddy, Mario and I went to Algonquin park, to the beach of the lake of two rivers to do some astrophotography and it was great. New moon so it was nice and dark and the stars are absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately the park technically closes at 10pm and the park ranger found us but was pretty cool and let us shoot till 11:30pm and we appreciate that. The galactic plane was starting to come up above the trees near the end (we didn’t want to push it and stay longer than told) but we promised to be done by 11:30 and we were.
First weekend after the province opened so I’m not surprised there were a lot of patrols (we saw a few government trucks driving around), hopefully they’re not as diligent after a few weeks. 😉
Yeah Algonquin park is pretty far but it’s the darkest place in Ontario that’s within relatively easy driving distance from Toronto. There are a couple of other “dark sky” reserves closer but yeah they’re no where near as dark. Mmm the stars are beautiful and I wish we could see skies like this regularly!
