What should I have done?

Are we so petty that we must talk in a derogatory manner about someone’s race? Maggie and I were walking by The Princess of Whales theatre this morning on our way to work when we walked by three young men (one Hispanic, two Blacks). As we passed, I heard one of them say something to the like of “those fucking Chinese…”

I was rather surprised to say the least, I did turn briefly however I didn’t say anything. If I had been by myself perhaps I might have spoke out. I’m not trying to use Maggie being there as an excuse but realistically what could I have done? Pick a fight? Argue?

If they did it trying to get me riled up, they failed. I’m not as upset as I am sad for their childish ignorance. Three “gangsta” dressed boys walking through the heart of the entertainment district at 9AM in the morning sure can be menacing. In case you can’t tell, I’m being sarcastic.

Perhaps I’ll get a chance to meet them again under more ideal circumstances then I can see how tough they really are…

  2. Well it’s easier to guess Chinese than something else. The Chinese community is larger than the rest in Toronto. 😉 LOL I have a BB with your name on it for Saturday!
