Overall I had a good weekend, how about you? Had Friday off so I took some time to fix a couple of shelves as well as clean the kitchen. Unfortunately my attempt at plumbing didn’t fair very well and I broke the kitchen faucet. Oh well those things happen it was old anyway. Friday night (as usual) was spent playing CQB at TTAC3 and my co-worker Istvan showed up.
The games that we played were quite technical which means it’s difficult for everyone even veteran players. Istvan said he had a good time but there were more newbie friendly scenarios we could have played. It was a shame he had to leave early because the game right after was a lot of fun.
The teams were broken down into even groups of 5 and the objective was to capture the enemy stronghold. Being my usual aggressive self (and aided with the lights being off), twice I was able to take out their entire team solo. Err that wasn’t the plan, my team was suppose to advance with me but somehow they got caught up. Overall I had a great game on Friday and was looking forward to the match on Sunday.
On Saturday Maggie and I didn’t really do anything and I started playing Rainbow Six: Las Vegas and damn it totally kills my computer. The game is stunning, easily the most beautiful game I’ve played so far. Las Vegas landmarks are easily identifiable but I can see this thing choking even the fastest machines. My system specs are an Athlon 64 FX-60, 2 GB memory and 2 7800GTXs in SLI (not the greatest but not bad relatively) and in some portions of the game I dropped to single digit framerates. Haha luckily the AI is good, I just ran through those sections as fast as I could and let my AI teammates handle cleanup. 😉 Mind you this was playing at 1024×768 with no AA and at medium details… Perhaps I’ll pick up a GeForce 8800GTX, was looking to get one anyway and upgrade the rest of my system.
Gaming started around 3PM and went to about 4AM Sunday morning. Got up at around 9AM to continue gaming till 2PM when Stephen called to go to the ATQ2 class at TTAC3. Haha I almost didn’t want to go because R6: Las Vegas was so much fun but I promised I’d look at Jason’s MP5K so off I went.
Initially I was suppose to play Op-For but one dude who signed up for the class didn’t show so I teamed up with another guy so everyone would have partners. The class went well, Jason showed up and I looked at his MP5K. He tried to install a new spring but ran into some trouble so I helped him with it. In went a Guarder SP100 and it boosted the MP5K’s muzzle velocity from ~250 FPS with 0.2g BB’s to 290 FPS. Please keep in mind, the relatively low FPS is due to the MP5K’s short barrel.
Skirmishing afterwards was ok till I broke the CA M15A4. Sitting on a window ledge, when the game started I jumped out but lost my footing and fell on my gun. That snapped the screw holding the crane stock on the body which rendered the gun inoperable. Whether there’s further damage I won’t know till tonight when I take things apart.
What made things worse was I was continually pestered by a newbie about how the gun broke and why, it was very irritating. Haha Jason said it right when he mentioned “when your gun breaks, you just want to be left alone!” Perhaps some people can’t take a hint but the rest of the night (about an hour) the guy kept going on and on about it, thanks dude you really know how to read people.
Anyway ended the night early and got some more R6: Las Vegas action in before bed. Aside from the crappy game I played on Sunday night and the gun breaking, I had a good weekend. Too bad it ended on a sour note.
Will take pics tonight of the damage to post, hopefully nothing happened to the mechbox.
