Sorry about the lack of updates but I’ve been pretty busy the last little while. Anyway over the weekend, some of the guys and I from the airsoft team hit up the game QuickPass at Rawdon Quebec. Alan, Mario, Jason, JR, Patrick and I met up at Scarborough Town Center at around 7:30PM and carpooled from there.
When we got to the motel at ~2:30AM in the morning we were all surprised to find that it was closed! Knocking or calling didn’t help we ended up having to sleep in the minivan.
Jason is laying on the steps of the motel…
As you can guess with six guys in a minivan, sleeping didn’t work out well. Patrick was tossing a lot and eventually Mario, Jason, JR and I decided to go for a walk around Rawdon to kill some time. It’s a small town and after about 30 minutes of walking, we were able to see pretty much everything in its “downtown” area. Wanting to let Alan and Patrick sleep a bit, we decided to just chill outside.
At 5:30AM we all piled back into the minivan to try and catch a bit of shut eye but that was impossible. At 7AM we had breakfast and got ready to go to the field, heh the locals were looking at all the airsofters in camo from Multicam to CADPAT, they must have been wondering what was going on. 😉
We got to the field at 8AM, registered and chronied all the weapons, the dude who did my MG36 remarked how liked its consistency. 🙂 After some of us geared up and all we could do was sit and wait till 10AM when the game officially started. While we waited we spotted several groups we’ve played with around the Southern Ontario area like TKF, STAT, Kamdershaft CA and Wolfpack. Nice to see so many familiar faces and they are guys we all enjoyed playing with. While we waited we took a team pic, heh not a bad looking squad eh?
At around 10:00AM, Poncho rounded up the desert team and most of us had to hike it to the debriefing area. The map was much bigger than what we’re use to here in Southern Ontario, about 2KM both in length and width with sprawling sand dune hills, a forested area, grassy plains and even a swampy area. The only thing the map didn’t have was an urban but that’s alright.
The mission objectives were pretty easy, capture one scientist roaming the field, get the airstrike marker and take over the enemy base. When the game started off, it was GHOSTS job to secure the wooded area. Patrick ran point and after climbing a sand dune he saw two snipers in ghillie suits. Getting into the wooded parts would be difficult but we made our push. One of the snipers was taken out early and while most of the guys entered the team on the right side I decided to cover the flank and go on the left, that’s when I was hit with friendly fire from Patrick. Sounded like he was a bit too excited and he lit me up from less than 10’.
I wasn’t mad because I know FF happens but I was a bit upset that I had to walk almost 10 minutes to the respawn point. Jason was killed soon after and we met back up at the respawn point. We later tagged along with Scarecrow and his WP crew. We saw that the green side was making a big push so Jason, myself and some other dude jumped into Scarecrow’s jeep and tried to find a way to get around the enemy.
Heh pictures are not just for show, vehicles were allowed in the game. 😀
After a bit of driving around we were able to make it to the side of a green squad without them knowing. They were busy engaged with some desert guys so Jason and I rushed up to attack from the flank. After taking out about 5 green players, the rest of the green side decided to retreat and the desert guys at the bottom of the hill rushed. Nothing beats having 30 guys backing you up when you’re attacking. 🙂
Another highlight for me was when Jason, myself and a few guys from the desert team were attacking the main green base and they had to call in an airstrike to take out about four players. It saved their hides since we were going to take it over very quickly. Here are a few more pics from the game.
The game ended early because our side was able to overtake the green base and win the game. While the guys I went up with were exhausted, I think we did a good job at representing Team GHOSTS. QuickPass was a ton of fun and it’ll be hard to play the fields in our neck of the woods again because we do not have facilities like that. The team is already planning next year’s QuickPass game and man I cannot wait! 😀
