Norinco SKS-D!

Today I picked up my Norinco SKS-D from the post office and man is this thing in great shape! I don’t know how many owners this gun has had but the stock is in good condition (some wear marks but no big deal) and the receiver/barrel are excellent. With the SKS-D, the bolt doesn’t hold open on the last shot or when you rack it back but it does accept detachable box mags (same mags as the AK47) which makes reloading much faster than using stripper clips. My gun came with 5 5 round 7.62×39 AK47 mags and I’ll be shopping for some 5 round pinned 30 round magazines later as they look much cooler. I’ll probably put an aftermarket stock on this one so it looks cooler…

Unfortunately I can’t do a side by side comparison between the Norinco SKS-D and a regular SKS as I sold my regular one over the weekend so Maggie wouldn’t be mad but I have a feeling I’ll get another regular SKS later, maybe a nice Russian one with a good wood kit. 😉

Uh just to be clear, gun is unloaded. I did have loaded magazines next to the rifle for pictures only. Man I can’t wait to play with this thing, going to Silverdale with Maggie on Friday (we’re both off) and I’ll give it a thorough testing. 😀 The trigger isn’t as crisp as with my old SKS, this one is more spongy but I guess I’ll get use to it.

  1. Any idea where I can pick one up. I have two sks at the moment a type 56 and a Russina. Looking to add a SKS D to the mix.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi Gary.

I believe you’re in the US (correct me if I’m wrong) but finding a SKS-D will be difficult because of the Chinese weapon ban enacted by the Clinton administration back in the early 90s. You’re best bet is to look online, I’ve seen some SKS-D rifles for sale on FB SKS groups but fair warning since they’re rare they’re pretty darn expensive.

Sorry for not being able to help. 🙁
