Today is the 3rd anniversary of the passing of Christopher Hitchens, he was a great speaker and defender of reason and if you’re not familiar with his work you can find it here. I certainly miss his quick & sharp wit and still enjoy going through the archives to hear him debate. I can only wish to fast and funny as he was, Christopher you are missed by a great many around the world.
By trying to adjust to the findings that it once tried so viciously to ban and repress, religion has only succeeded in restating the same questions that undermined it in earlier epochs. What kind of designer or creator is so wasteful and capricious and approximate? What kind of designer or creator is so cruel and indifferent? And—most of all—what kind of designer or creator only chooses to “reveal” himself to semi-stupefied peasants in desert regions?
Christopher Hitchens
One of many favourite quotes of his, there may be a god but till there’s evidence I will not believe. I have a hard time seeing how an all powerful entity that endowed me with my mental faculties would punish me for exercising them and if that’s the case, it’s a malevolent god which does not deserve worship.
To any of my religious friends, I mean no offence. 🙂
