I may have Alzheimer’s…

In the last few years there has been an explosion of pharmaceutical advertising on television and I decided to take the OnMemory.ca’s Alzheimer’s test. I am not trying to make light of the disease, I believe it’s one of the worst there is but I find it disturbing how big pharma is trying to take its messages directly to the public. After answering the questionnaire truthfully, the website didn’t state that I have Alzheimer’s but it did recommend me see a specialist. That’s great and I’m not even 30 yet…

What big pharma wants is for those who are worried about this disease to jump on their treatment options, even if you don’t have a problem and again it all boils down to money. Pharmaceutical companies and the medical industry are not interested in curing you of anything, they want you to be sick for the rest of your life so they can continue selling you treatment options. Well fellow Canadians, get ready for the influx of advertising from this industry but do your best not to believe the hype.

  1. I couldn’t agree more.

  2. I did the same test, failed 5/11 of the questions, then realized that it must be the product of a drug company – so I found a test developed by a medical school, and scored perfectly. No problems other than living a too-busy life, and not good enough nutrition or sleep, all of which can and will be remedied. I’m so glad I also found your post, though – thanks.

  3. Hi Shannon.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I’m glad that you enjoyed the post haha I love to rant about things. I hope things are not as crazy in the UK but the amount of pharmaceutical advertising in Canada is getting out of hand, drugs are not the answer to all of life’s problems. As long as one does things in moderation they will be fine.

Stop by when you can. 🙂
