So I took this week off to use up some vacation days I had left over from 2014 and I took a first aid class with St. John Ambulance. I completed the Standard First Aid with CPR A + AED class, most of the other students attending were there for work related reasons and I think I was the only one there voluntarily and I had a lot of fun.
The instructor I had was very thorough and made the class interesting, I heard from others who have done similar classes that it would be boring but I found myself quite engaged. There was a lot of hands on practicing CPR on the dummies, bandaging and securing other students and learning how to deal with chocking hazards. Now that I have a family, I’ve always wanted to be prepared in case something happens and basic treatment needs to be applied immediately, now I have those skills. 🙂 Definitely recommend this class to anyone who’s interested in being prepared in case of emergency (which should be everyone lol).
I hope that I never have to use what I’ve learnt but should that time come I’ll be ready!
