DD MK18 finally done… maybe.

So my Daniel Defense MK18 rifle is pretty much done in terms of setup.

It was pretty easy, I moved over the sights, optics, PEQ-15 & rail ladder guards from my Systema MK18 and a week and a half ago, received my first generation B5 SOPMOD stock.  Being first generation, it’s very tight over the mil spec buffer tube but meh once it’s set I don’t move it so no big deal really…  I also put 3 Surefire CR123 batteries & a set of foam ear plugs per storage compartment on the stock (there are two), internally I swapped the stock stainless steel buffer spring with a S&J chrome silicon spring and the default H buffer with the heavier H2.

The rifle is shooting very well though right now but I’m still debating with myself if I should get a H3 buffer from Brownells to try out.  Heavier buffers are suppose to lessen recoil and since I want to keep the flash hider for muzzle flash suppression, I’m trying to mitigate recoil elsewhere.  LOL 5.56×45 recoil is not heavy by any means but anything that aids me getting back on target faster is a good thing. Hmm now that I look at it I’ll also replace the NcStar mini RDS on top of the Elcan with a real Docter site later, it’s served me well but I feel like I should go with the real thing for this rifle.

I was telling Jeremy over the weekend, RS is like lego for adult men and it’s so much fun customizing things. 🙂
