Fun times in Canadian politics

I’m sure many of you know my political views how I have a strong dislike for the right and the neoconservative movement and today I sit and laugh at what’s occurring on parliament hill. Why does Mr. Harper try and score political points during this economic crisis? Why does the right always politicize every single issue when it can?

Sigh I find it disheartening how quickly the voting population of Canada forgets things, these “Conservatives” are no more than the “extremist Reform” party of the 90s. What I find amusing are that neo cons while ideologically conservative are fiscally irresponsible, they spend like drunken sailors. It’s not fair to blame the economic situation on the Canadian Conservative government (though if I could find a link, you know I would ;)) but let’s not forget here what they inherited from the previous Liberal government, a large budget surplus which happen to be squandered. Hmm in the 90s when the Liberals came into power they were given a huge deficit and a ballooning debt and they were able to turn things around.

Mr. Harper, Mr. Flaherty and the Conservatives have the Liberals to thank for the money they’re able to throw around, which happens to be gone now.

Hypocrite

Funny how the PM says the opposition parties have no right to ask the GG to take over power, why in 2004 he petitioned the GG then to do just the same thing.

As leaders of the opposition parties, we are well aware that, given the Liberal minority government, you could be asked by the Prime Minister to dissolve the 38th Parliament at any time should the House of Commons fail to support some part of the government’s program. We respectfully point out that the opposition parties, who together constitute a majority in the House, have been in close consultation. We believe that, should a request for dissolution arise this should give you cause, as constitutional practice has determined, to consult the opposition leaders and consider all of your options before exercising your constitutional authority. Your attention to this matter is appreciated.

Hmm I guess he just forgot huh, convenient…

It’s within the GG’s right to put an opposition coalition into power, whether that happens though who knows. I know I’m certainly enjoying the excitement. 🙂
