Lots of bang bang…

So yesterday I took Nick out to the range and we had a lot of fun.  I love bringing newbs but sigh miss when I go with other people with licenses because when I have unlicensed guests I’m stuck at the regular ranges.  Anyway we shot a bit at the action range as usual and I went 8/8 again with the HK45CT so I’m happy.  We then went to the 200 yard range to shoot the metal gong and to shoot some paper and that was alright too but my CSA vz58 was giving me some problems…  It wouldn’t feed cartridges properly and when I took things apart later I found out why.

It’s a bit hard to see but at the bottom of the bolt (the extractor is the top), one of the lugs that pushes the cartridges into the chamber is broken. 🙁  Luckily the vz58 has a 5 year warranty so tomorrow I’m going to drop it off at the repair depot, hopefully it won’t take too long to fix.

Today I went to Silverdale again but this time because I was alone, I could use one of the competition ranges to shoot.

Hehe those targets down there look mean…  Anyway I was at competition range 3 and set up about 20 yards back from the targets.  Initially I was using green pie plates but later I put up a lot of different colours so I could shoot one colour per session…  I did a lot of movement with fire (my stance isn’t very good yet), practiced my reloads and transition from rifle to pistol, it was a lot of fun.

I’m not sure why one of the videos is smaller than the other and why one has a border but meh whatever, as you can see I had a lot of fun! 😀  I shot for about 3 hours then packed things up…  I must have gone through 500 rounds of 5.56 and 200 rounds of 45 ACP, I also found out why soldiers don’t use the C clamp style grip on rifles (something I’ve always hated anyway)…  After prolonged shooting the rails just get too hot to grip and in one of the videos you can see me change from gripping the rail to the KAC foregrip because it was just too hot.

I got home around 2pm, cleaned all my stuff and relaxed in the afternoon. After dinner we took Brandon to the park, played a bit then called it a day…
