Eew mud!

Haha that’s what Brandon would have said if he saw the competition range I was using this morning at Sliverdale. 😉  As I’ve mentioned before one thing nice about my work is that every long weekend, I get an extra day so with Brandon at school and Maggie working, I decided to go to the gun range myself to do some practice and boy was it fun.  Unfortunately it was raining pretty heavily last night so when I got to the range, everything was soaked and at the competition ranges, you need to walk on the soil so it was pretty darn muddy…

Yeah as you can see it was messy but that’s alright I was wearing my waterproof Magnum boots and goretex pants so meh I didn’t care much about being wet. 🙂  I purposely short loaded my rifle and pistol magazines (2-5 rounds in general) to practice my reloads, note I’m dumping the spent mags into a dump pouch behind my back instead of dropping mags on the floor.  From my airsoft days, I found I hated dropping mags because I’d end up losing them and who knows, if I’m in a fight I might not have time to pick them up later…  Not that I will be in a gun fight, but it’s the principle haha.

In addition to testing my reloads I’m also testing my new SKD Tactical PIG UCR (Universal Chest Rig), a few of the guys have the same rig and love it so I figure why not pick one up for myself. 😀  Anyway the rig is great, very comfortable and with the pouch configuration close to my other vests and LBT plate carrier, I found using it very easy.  Heh today was practice for next weekend, I’m taking a night operator’s course with some of the guys at the Rockcut shooting club, hosted by One Shot Tactical and I’m so looking to shooting my RS with my night vision and PEQ box!  I’ll practice without aids of course but lol instead of pew pew, I can do bang bang with my NV! 😀
