Gordon Gekko chooses Bernie

I saw this back in early March but didn’t have time to post it but the man Oliver Stone based Gordon Gekko on in the Wall Street movies thinks Bernie Sanders should be president.

“Well, I think it’s quite simple,” he began. “If you look at something called ‘velocity of money’—you guys know what that is, I presume—that means how much gets spent and turns around. When you have the top one percent getting money, they spend five, 10 percent of what they earn. When you have the lower end of the economy getting money, they spend 100, or 110 percent of what they earn. As you’ve had a transfer of wealth to the top, and a transfer of income to the top, you have a shrinking consumer base, basically, and you have a shrinking velocity of money. Bernie is the only person out there who I think is talking at all about both fiscal stimulation and banking rules that will get the banks to begin to generate lending again as opposed to speculation. So from an economic point of view, it’s straightforward.”

There’s a video clip at the end of the story and lol I’ve been saying it to friends for a long time.  Give the poor and middle class a tax break, they spend a much larger percentage of their money on life than the rich.  It’s so easy but the charlatan Reagan made the world go crazy.  Let’s get back to rational economic policy!

  1. Sanders is a non-starter right from the get-go as the expression goes. He’s too old, has no real support in the political circles, and has been an outsider far too long. He would be a lame duck President if he even got that far. As much as it pains me to say this I think we need to really shake things up and throw caution to the wind and go with Trump. His loud mouth comments aside Trump might be what America needs now. I don’t see Cruz as being POTUS material and don’t even get me started on Clinton. Where are America’s real leaders and why aren’t they running for POTUS? Bloomberg, you hear me!

  2. I understand that Bernie’s ideas are frankly politically toxic to both the Democratic & Republican parties but when you poll people on their thoughts on his policies, they cross party lines. Getting money out of politics, less war, more regulation on banks, etc they have substantial support.

I agree, if Trump were to become president it would shake up the political landscape very much and you’re right maybe it’s what is needed to wake up the people. Between Trump & Cruz though I’d take Trump everyday of the week. Cruz is an ideologue, Trump I think is saying what he needs to to get the Republican base to support him. I think he’d be more willing to cut deals and make things work.

Ugh Clinton, while I do dislike her very much I think she’d be better than the Republican alternative, pretty much the same as what we’ve gotten from Obama the last 7 years but a bit more hawkish. That last part does frighten me though, I might be a Canadian but what happens in the US reverberates in the rest of the world.

  3. Canada, eh!

I respect what Canadians have contributed to the world order. They were there on D-Day. They were there in Korea. They were there for Desert Storm. Heck, they were even there in Afghanistan. The US needs friends like this more then ever.

By the way, it would also be a big help if you bought some F-35’s. We need countries to help finance this “boondoggle”. What a disaster this jet is turning out to be.

  4. Canada and the US does have a good relationship, like friends we don’t always have to agree on everything but it’s nice that we’re together when there are real issues.

Haha as for the F-35, the new federal Liberal party has already publicly stated that they’re going to drop the sole source contract and have multiple manufacturers bid on our next plane. Sorry and thank god, yes a complete disaster. 🙁
