The Ontario Liberals are corrupt…

Canadian politics stinks of corruption and this is a prime example of the problems we’re facing here in Ontario.

The biggest corporate donor to the Ontario Liberal Party is also one of Ontario’s biggest recipients of taxpayer-funded corporate subsidies.

Research by CBC News reveals that GreenField Specialty Alcohols Inc. and its related companies have received more than $160 million in government support since the Liberal government created a dedicated fund for the ethanol industry.

Further research by CBC News also shows that GreenField, companies and its founder have donated more than $480,000 to the Ontario Liberal Party in the same time period. The political contributions make GreenField the biggest corporate donor to the Ontario Liberalssince Kathleen Wynne became premier in 2013.

I mean I get it I’m a huge supporter of green/alternative energy and believe that those industries need to be subsidized at least till they’re able to compete with established technology but the system we have right now doesn’t work.

“Any inference that GreenField has made donations for an inappropriate purpose is without merit,” said company CEO Bob Gallant in an email to CBC News. “Our company proudly supports politicians of all political stripes, at all levels of government (federal, provincial and municipal) who support the ethanol industry.”

Elections Ontario data indicate GreenField has donated $90,350 to the Progressive Conservatives since 2007 (but just $33,500 of that since 2013) and nothing to the NDP.

So GreenField donates (bribes) all politicians, though the Conservative & NDP parties less than the Liberals…  It drives me nuts, politicians of all levels of government should not be able to solicit money for campaigns, it should all be publicly funded that way they truly serve the people’s best interests.

Support for new industries & technology is important yes but it can’t financially benefit politicians or political parties.

  1. Bah, that’s nothing. Try running a nation with Trump or Clinton as the head of state.

  2. The 2016 election will be super negative and yeah one will continue the status quo which is not good enough and the other, geez who knows what he’ll do!

  3. Colin, I fear for America. The total lack of vision and leadership is a disgrace. The USA needs a President that can lead us through the challenges that we face or we will be speaking Russian or Chinese soon enough.

  4. Did you hear about how Trump would allow the US to claim bankruptcy? What may work in the business world wouldn’t work here, that’d throw the world economy in huge disarray… I do hope that the US has sane leadership because whatever happens, Canada’s future is tied to your country.

  5. Hmmm, is your new PM Trudeau any good? If so maybe we need to stage a coup and become the 11th province of Canada. I’m not opposed to universal health care but I would need more relaxed guns laws.

Trump and his crazy ideas. Is it possible he has the early stages of dementia ? Or is his Advisors to blame?

  6. Trudeau socially is left but so far fiscally and tax wise seems to be more of the same from standard politicans. Universal health care is great, yes there are lines for elective surgeries but anything that’s life threatening is taken care of immediately and generally the level of service we receive is very good. It’s not perfect but I think you’ll find most Canadians are happy with it and don’t worry about going broke if we get sick. I agree with the laxer gun laws, I may be relatively liberal but I also believe that if I do everything right, I should be able to do whatever the hell I want.

Trump is a showman, during the Republican primary I thought he was just pandering, saying whatever he needed but now that he’s switching to general election mode it’s more concerning. I also don’t think Trump’s advisers can control him his craziness has won him a lot so far and who knows maybe he’ll change his tune when he sees the rhetoric actually affect the US.
