Pew pew

Today Brayden and I went to Silverdale to do a bit of work on the competition range and it was a lot of fun. 😀  We set up four targets, did some close in pistol/rifle work then did a course where we shot on the move as well as used faux cover to engage the targets.

Haha the picture of the targets was taken before we got creative and started shooting but we used different colour pie plates, when one was shooting the other would run behind calling out the colour to engage and it was a ton of fun.  Only good hits allowed us to move to the next targets and we practiced with both primary and secondary weapons.

The weather was good, just below freezing so the ground and comfortable to run around in with our armour on.  The upgraded power Wolff hammer spring for the Aero Precision lower fixed my issue with igniting surplus 7.62×39 primers (military primers are hard) and that thing is so much fun to shoot.  Helps that the cost of the ammo is about half of what the cheapest 5.56×45 goes for.

We called it a day after 1pm and drove back, after I dropped him off and put all my gear in my home I picked up Brandon from school early then while he was drawing I cleaned my guns downstairs.  Went out for dinner and well it looks like it’ll be a relaxing quiet evening.

I wish I could shoot everyday it’s just so much fun! 😀

  1. I am surprised that Canadians are even allowed to own guns of this type. Enjoy your shooting sports.

I am a big fan of AR15’s myself. There is no greater feeling of satisfaction than firing 5.56mm ammo.

  2. Hi Smiley.

We have a very convuloted licensing system but once we that that license we do have a large variety of toys that we can play wtih. I agree AR15s are awesome but I’m not picky and enjoy pretty much everything. 🙂

  3. I have great respect for Canada and Canadians. I would have never imagined that gun ownership is a big movement up north. Mind you I do see some Canadian comments every now and then on my various gun forums but certainly not to a great extent. Does Canada have a organization like the NRA to promote and protect gun ownership? I imagine it is difficult given that you do not have the 2A.

  4. Hi Smiley.

From the latest numbers I’ve seen there are ~2.1 million with gun licenses but no our gun organizations are busy fighting amongst themselves and yes without a 2A, our privilege to own firearms is always at threat. Luckily more and more Canadians are getting into shooting sports even in the more liberal areas of the country and the more people with licenses the better. 😀

  5. If I did my math correctly that would mean that around 5% of Canada’s population are gun owners / shooters. That’s very small, I guess it isn’t in Canada’s cultural identity to be into the shooting sports.
