So as you may be aware near the end of May, some bitch in a Volkswagon Touareg hit my car (here & here) but what I didn’t tell post on my blog was the huge screw up after I got my car back.
Anyway starting from the top, one day after I pick up my car I noticed that the driver side mirror was not the heated version so I called Assured Collision Auto Repair (at Yonge & Steeles, recommended by Allstate to do the work) to rectify the situation. The gentleman I spoke to apologized for the error and told me they’d order a new mirror right away, once they get the new mirror they’d give me a call so I can bring my car in for a swap.
3 weeks later, I call to inquire about the mirror and they said it was back ordered but they’d get it soon. One week after that I call again and it still hadn’t arrived so this was almost a month after I informed Assured Collision (hopefully by using their name so search bots pick up this blog post) about their screw up. Another week passes and Allstate gives me a call to rate the service I’ve received from them and Assured Collision so I explain what happened and that I’m not satisfied at all with how things have gone. A few days after the survey, the local Allstate manager calls to to help me with the mirror (high marks there) and sorts it out with Assured Collision. Perhaps not surprisingly after the manager calls the body shop, they magically get my mirror after 3 days (having waited by this time over a month).
Unfortunately timing was poor as I was about to move the next week so no biggie I told Assured Collision that I’ll be by sometime in August (I take responsibility for the time that passed here obviously). Anyway today after dropping Maggie off at the subway I went to get the proper mirror installed however now the back plate is incorrect… They had a proper plate however it’s black so if I wanted it painted I would have to come back again in the afternoon. By this time I’m pretty annoyed but I don’t really have a choice so I say fine, I take my car and tell them to paint the black mirror back plate the same as my car.
So at 1PM I go back to Assured Collision and the paint is not done yet, it won’t be ready till 3PM. I mean hell if I’m told it’ll be ready in the afternoon, I should be able to come at any time in the afternoon right? Upset I ask to speak to the manager, I know there’s nothing he can do for me but I wanted to voice my opinion (in a constructive manner) on how I wanted to bring my car to the dealership to get the work done but that Allstate told me that Assured Collision was good and that I feel they dropped the ball on several occasions.
He agreed and thanked me for my comments but by this time it was already 1:40PM and I wasn’t about to go home, sit around for 20 minutes then drive all the way back to the body shop. I loitered at Center Point, bought a few things for the house and went back at 3PM. Thankfully the plate was done and installed but yeah having to devote my whole day to get a damn mirror replaced is pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
Frankly I feel if I hadn’t hassled (and gotten Allstate involved) Assured Collision, they would have dragged out this process longer… Whenever I called about the mirror, it’s always “the mirror is out of stock and on order”…
Anyway that’s my story yeah I’m pretty pissed but am glad it’s over. Well it’s not for Assured Collision as I will definitely write a letter of complaint to Allstate, their recommended body shops must give customers a higher level of service than I received…
