A couple of weeks ago I bought a Chiappa 1911-22 on impulse, lol I usually do my homework when I buy toys but this time I just did it because it was cheap and hopefully I don’t get burned. 😉 I wanted to pick up a 1911 that shot .22 LR for a couple of reasons, first it’ll allow me to practice cheaply (.45 ACP cartridges cost almost $0.50 per) and second it’s easy for Maggie to shoot. She enjoyed shooting the Ruger 10/22 because it’s easy so hopefully she’ll like this one too, just hope I don’t get a lemon. From what I’ve read, the gun is mediocre in quality at best and uses soft metal but hell it shoots a .22 LR after all.
For $275 shipped, I got the Chiappa 1911-22 with three additional mags and the original case. For a used gun I’d say it’s in fair condition, the part on the slide that makes contact with the slide lock is worn and it doesn’t lock back but that’s alright and I’m going to straighten it out a bit with my dremel. Wouldn’t do that to my real 1911 but for this sure it’ll work… Functionality wise, the controls on the 1911-22 are in the same location as a regular 1911 though the grip safety is fake and doesn’t work. Feels very much like a 1911 in your hand which is night and has similar weight to my Norinco anyway. In the second picture, you can see some .22 LR & .45 ACP cartridges, duh the .45 is much bigger. 😉
I won’t have time this weekend to go to the range but I’ll give it a workout next weekend when I take a coworker and his gf to Silverdale. I’ll report back how it performs, hopefully it won’t be too bad. 🙂
