Done and done…

So after a lot of deliberation and discussion with both vendors in the running, Maggie and I have committed to buying a system with SolSmart. While it was the cheaper option cost was not the deciding factor, rather what put me at ease long list of references and I talked to every single one of them. Obviously they’re only going to put people who are happy with them on that list but still it’s reassuring to hear about first hand experiences…  I noticed a trend as well, most people I talked to said their system generates more power than SolSmart quotes and in my discussions with the company, they say they’d prefer to be conservative on power generation numbers than over promise and under deliver.

We signed the contract and they’re going to be doing all the paperwork with the city and Toronto Hydro for us which is handy and will come to the house shortly to do measurements.  The price is still an estimate, when they’re here they can firm up on the numbers and I’m just fine on that. It may be worth while to stick some panels on the North side of the house too, I get some pretty good afternoon sun and it’d be a shame to waste it.

While Maggie was a bit apprehensive at first, she’s fully onboard now and I can’t wait to lessen my carbon footprint.  Haha we’re even talking about maybe getting an electric vehicle, the Telsa’s are cool but I think a Nissan LEAF is probably a bit more realistic, I guess maybe I’ll do a bit of homework there and see what my options are. 🙂
